The One Thing that Changes Everything: Trust

Heritage NoondayToday’s turmoil in the business arena demands that we establish a strong foundation of mutual trust and respect in the marketplace. In his 2006 book, The Speed of Trust: The One Thing That Changes Everything, Stephen Covey asserts, “The ability to establish, extend, and restore trust with all stakeholders – customers, business partners, investors and coworkers – is the key leadership competency of the new, global economy.” So true. At Heritage Home Buyers mutual trust and respect are paramount. It allows us to build solid relationships with our clients, employees, contractors and business partners, and accelerates everyone’s success.

Heritage Home Buyers

During the building phase of Heritage Home Buyers, we have been busy introducing ourselves. Now we’ll be sharing what we do and how we do it. Here’s a glimpse:

  • We take personal responsibility for treating people fairly
  • We help people sell their home quickly
  • We treat each home we purchase with the same care as we would our own
  • We provide high quality home rehabs and renovations
  • We renew and restore neighborhoods
  • We help people avoid foreclosure
  • We help people clear up judgments or outside debts and begin anew
  • We realize we were put here not only to operate a business, but be an example

Another Beginning

Today, I also want to introduce you to my dear friend, Cherita Andrews. I met Cherita when I started an engineering firm in 1999 with the goal of becoming a statewide leader in roadway and bridge design. We met that goal, and in 2016 I sold my shares to a rising crop of employees who are now taking the company to new heights. A large part of that growth is due to the mutual respect and trust among the company’s staff, clients, and the public. Cherita helped build the character culture that led to the company’s current success. Cherita is now a student of Heritage Home Buyers, and we will be telling her story so you can learn right along with her.

Building a Great Company

In the meantime, we will be implementing the steps of building a great company as seen by Steven Covey in his list, “The 13 Behaviors of High Trust™

  1. Talk Straight
  2. Demonstrate Respect
  3. Create Transparency
  4. Right Wrongs
  5. Show Loyalty
  6. Deliver Results
  7. Get Better (Continuously)
  8. Confront Reality
  9. Clarify Expectations
  10. Practice Accountability
  11. Listen First
  12. Keep Commitments
  13. Extend Trust

We look forward to a conversation with you.  Tell us what you think.
